Switching direction for a major program is not an easy decision for any business; never mind at the 11th hour. Sometimes it’s not even possible, although it may be necessary.

Nayamode was called upon by a major video-gaming entity to manage preparations to take part in a yearly industry event. Pattie MacCool, program manager from Nayamode, was creating major workstreams and workback schedules for her teams when she was directed to change direction.

Rather than taking part in the current event, the company wanted to host their own event. The timeline would be very similar and much reassessing of budgets, schedules, resources had to be done quickly.

Tight deadlines, unknown variables, the search for a venue and all that comes with a major industry event were grounded quickly. Pattie’s approach gained the immediate buy-in of senior-level managers. By applying her experience to see things a little differently, she was able to preserve the momentum and deliver the desired outcome.

When asked what programs she likes best, Pattie replied, “I like the working the projects where it’s not obvious what needs to be done next. Often clients are so busy with their business that they may not see the nuances that could really make a difference.”

In early 2021, Microsoft’s Surface Accessories group wanted expertise to manage the lifecycle strategy for a new Surface accessory product in development. They turned to Nayamode who assigned Matt Rollins as a business planner and analyst.

To manage the lifecycle and develop strategy, Matt mined information from disparate groups while breaking down information silos and facilitating the team to work as one. The work deliverables included a business opportunity analysis, modeling of lifetime volumes, and then a complete launch-wave strategy.

Leading up to the conclusion of the project, the data curating and modeling efforts gave visibility to data that led to impactful decisions. Matt and Nayamode delivered the keys to success also by being totally invested in cross-functional collaboration and remaining customer obsessed.

Last year, Microsoft announced that the Internet Explorer 11 desktop app would be retired in June 2022 after 25 years in the market.  Many commercial customers have old internal apps built on IE so it was imperative for these customers to complete the migration to Microsoft Edge with IE-mode before retirement, otherwise they could face a work stoppage. To ensure a successful retirement of IE11, driving awareness of the retirement date with the commercial audience and driving action was critical. The overarching goal was to successfully move IE users to Microsoft Edge without disruption and deliver a faster, more secure, and modern browsing experience than Internet Explorer.

The Edge Commercial GTM team turned to Nayamode to help manage paid social media campaigns that were designed to amplify the message and drive action.  A mid-funnel paid media campaign was run across social media and display ad platforms. Nayamode supported the campaign with ad placement, performance tracking, and reporting and also worked with the team on development of ads to drive the “urgency” message.

It was also critical that IT Pros were given tools to successfully transition to Edge with IE mode. With Nayamode’s support, different calls to action were developed pointing to different tools as the campaign progressed.  The campaign exceeded performance targets. The campaign will wrap up in June prior to the June 15, 2022 retirement date.  Nayamode is proud to support this important initiative for Microsoft.
